Lak si na odustajanju - znam te. A volela bih da te ne znam i da nikada nisam stigla da te upoznam do kraja. A ovako... Sve dođavola! Znam ti hod, prepoznajem korake, otkucaje srca brojim svake noći; znam kako dišeš i koje te pesme pogađaju, znam koje pivo voliš, koju muziku slušaš, koje knjige (ne) čitaš. Znam i gde voliš da te češkam. Znam gde te boli, gde krvariš, gde plačeš i šta sanjaš. Znam kako da te smirim kada te košmari probude. Znam te. A volela bih da te ne znam i da te nikada nisam stigla zagrliti pod onim prokletim nebom i suncem koje mi je pržilo ramena. Dodiruješ mi lice nežno. Osećam miris duvana na tvojim prstima i - mrzim to. Ali se osećam zaštićeno i sigurno. A i dalje strepim. Imaš me. Imaš čitavo moje telo i svu ljubav. Kad dođe jesen, ti odlaziš. Grliće me jesen, ljubiće me kiše, šaputaće mi žuto, opalo lišće. Vetar će mi mrsiti kosu. Živeću sama i biću student. Nije to problem. Biću nasmejana, studiraću sa puno volje i truda. Ali duboko u sebi, plašiću se. Misliću o tebi kada padne noć, danju neću to sebi dozvoliti. Gde si i s kim, šta radiš, ko te budi? Neću se javljati na telefon kada budeš zvao, možda ti ni na poruke ne odgovorim. Ne želim da čujem drhtavi glas koji izgovara da ne možeš više, da si odustao. Vidim te, preda mnom, zadnje avgustovske večeri, kako se smeješ i veseliš, nazdravljaš sa drugovima. Zamišljaš mitraljez, rafal, bajonete, maslinasto-zelenu uniformu. Mene jedva primećuješ, što mi daje priliku da te bolje osmotrim. Povremeno mi priđeš i sa osmehom me poljubiš u čelo, pa se vratiš pesmi i pijanim drugovima. A u meni borba, kao na bojištu. Bićeš moj vojnik - mali, slatki ponos u mom srcu. Ne plašim se - ni daljine, ni borbe, ni puške, ni rata. Plašim se tebe. Tebe i tvoje paklene, promenljive naravi; tvojih prevrtljivih misli; tvog lepog, bosanskog inata. Dve godine je prošlo, a ja se i dalje plašim tebe. I tvoje naravi. Pola godine će proći, ne verujem u nas. Možeš naći drugu, možeš me prevariti, ostaviti, razočarati, otići daleko... Možeš mi i umreti. Mogu i ja tebi umreti. Nikad ne znaš. Ništa od toga preživela ne bih. Preživeti neću. Moraš da ideš, mili. Kasno je da se povučeš sa bojišta, iako to ne bi nikad ni uradio, ma koliko te molila. Odlaziš u daleki grad, a ono što će se tamo desiti, na tebi je. Ali znam te - nećeš ti to moći. Pustićeš me da odem. Da padnem u tuđe ruke, na pogrešne grudi, da me ljube usne bludnika. Biće ti žao.
